My New Passion

Hello all, it’s been awhile so much going on. Other then my passion for photography I found another passion I can see doing as a profession. I love audio engineering, such as foley, voice overs, and set design. I loved my Audio Production class with the wonderful Mel Stark. For my final, we had to do about a 3 minute or so sound foley from a list of movies to choose from. I picked “Wreck it Ralph”. We didn’t have to do all the sounds to all of it, but I wanted to. We had to do 75% of our own foley and 25% we can get from free sound. The only sounds that were not mine were, Ralph coming into the jail cell with Felix, the Fungeon with Vanellope and the cars revving. Shayne Sadler, was my Felix played by a student whom has never even seen “Wreck it Ralph” till then, he was just amazing. Another student Gene Joseph, was my Ralph, I did the voice of Vanellope and my dear friend Properfessor did the music. My son Corey Kowalchuk was King Candy. His inspiration for King Candy was Mad Hatter’s voice. I am very proud of this for being my first time ever working with dialog and sound. Now I can’t get enough… Since then, I’m now in a Video Production class, with also the great Jefferson Goolsby. Our first assignment was to do a chase scene. We were put into groups with VP 1’ers and at least one VP 2’ers. VP 1 for camera and VP 2 for editing. I had a great group that I have had in previous classes. Chris Hawkins as the camera man, Donovan Vance, Alex Cascaddan, and myself for sound effects.

We were then asked by our instructor, Jeff Goolsby if we would like to participate in the 72 Hour Horror Fest. Out of 33 teams I believe from all around participated. Only 24 completed and turned in on time. We had a audience viewing and voting at the Bijou in Eugene, Oregon. There were two viewing, one at 8:00 pm and the other was 10:30 pm on Halloween. Ours was the very last one to view, and I good turn out for being on Halloween and showing the same time for the Rocky Horror Show next to it. There was also voting on Facebook, as well. We had to wait for the next day to find out who won. The sad thing I had to co-op at Sprout City at the time. Thanks to Alex, he text me “We Won”. “Giggles” won for Jury Prize and they honestly deserve it. Ours won “Audience Choice Award”. My team were the same as the chase scene. Chris Hawkins – Director, Donovan Vance – Script, Alex Cascaddan – actor, storyboard and his house, and me – props, set design. We also had Chris’s brother Philip Hawkins as an actor and Chris Hawkins girlfriend Rebecca Felcyn was our actress. What a great group of talented people. Now we get to do a 15 minute movie on our 3 minute movie. Can’t wait to start this. I’m also working on my final for Documentary Photography a film about my kids and I dealing with Mental illness and my final for Video Production class a music video with my teenage daughter and her boyfriend as a starker. I will post them when done editing them. My goal is to work on “Grimm”. Here are my movies so far. Hearing “Wreck it Ralph” I want to fix where the music suddenly ends and put a fade on it. For my first time, I think I did pretty good!

Hope you enjoy.
